Leon County Schools Continues Strong Performance, Narrowly Misses "A" District Rating

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Leon County Schools has once again earned a "B" district grade from the Florida Department of Education for the 2025–2026 school year, falling just 0.25 of a percentage point shy of an "A" rating while continuing to demonstrate academic growth across the district.

School grades released today reflect continued progress in classrooms throughout Leon County. The district is home to **16 A-rated schools, 11 B-rated schools, 9 C-rated schools, and 1 D-rated school. **

Among this year's highlights, eight schools improved by at least one letter grade, including two schools that achieved remarkable two-letter-grade improvements from a “C” to an “A”:

  • Sealey Elementary School
  • Fairview Middle School
Seventy percent of LCS Title I Elementary Schools received a school grade of “A” or “B”.

"Our school grades reflect the hard work happening in classrooms across Leon County every single day," said Superintendent Rocky Hanna. "While we certainly wanted to earn that 'A' district grade, missing it by such a slim margin reminds us just how close we are. I'm incredibly proud of our teachers, principals, support staff, students, and families for the progress we've made together. Seeing eight schools improve their grades, including two schools making two-letter-grade gains, is a testament to what's possible when people stay focused on doing what's best for kids. We will celebrate these accomplishments, learn from the challenges, and continue working to ensure that every student and every school reach their full potential."

While four schools received a lower grade than they earned last year, this year's results show positive momentum across the district, highlighted by substantial improvement at schools throughout Leon County. The district will continue building on this year's momentum by supporting schools through targeted instructional strategies, professional learning, and student-centered initiatives designed to accelerate achievement across every campus.
