Public Notice: Intent to Apply for 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Grant
Leon County Schools announces its intent to apply for funding through the Florida Department of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) 2026–2027 Request for Proposal (RFP).
The purpose of the 21st CCLC program is to provide high-quality academic support, enrichment activities, and family engagement opportunities for students attending high-need schools. If awarded, Leon County Schools will offer afterschool and summer programs that support student achievement while providing safe and structured learning environments outside of the regular school day.
The district intends to apply for the following school sites:
- Astoria Park Elementary School (Grades K–5)
- Pineview Elementary School (Grades K–5)
- Ruediger Elementary School (Grades K–5)
- Fairview Middle School (Grades 6–8)
- Nims Middle School (Grades 6–8)
- Woodville K–8 School (Grades K–8)
Students who attend these schools, as well as eligible private school students in the surrounding attendance areas, will be invited to participate if funding is awarded.

Importance of 21st Century Funding and Support
“Programs like 21st CCLC play a huge role in helping underserved communities offer meaningful learning experiences beyond the school day,” said Ryan Neden, Executive Director, Kid Spark Education. “When funding like this is at risk, so are the opportunities it makes possible. We’re glad to see it restored and hope more communities will use it to bring high-quality STEM learning to students who need it most.”
