If you have a registered Home Education Student through Leon County Schools, your child(ren) is not required to take the State of Florida assessments. However, students who are registered with the Home Education Office through Leon County Schools are eligible to participate in the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST PM3) and/or End-of-Course Exams (EOCS) (for the first time or re-take them) at their home-zoned school.

Once the Home Educated student is registered for state testing (after the Home Education enrollment has been confirmed with LCS), the parent/guardian will receive a confirmation email and a parent testing letter (mailed to the address the Home Edu office has on file) with the zoned school contact information.

The parent/guardian is responsible for contacting the zoned school’s testing coordinator for testing dates and times.

*A complete list of school testing coordinators can be found at the bottom of this page.*

  • The testing windows below denote the amount of time provided for districts and schools to select test administration days; they do not represent the amount of time students spend taking the assessments. The windows are established to provide maximum flexibility to efficiently deliver these important measurements of student progress and performance and maximize student learning and instructional time.

  • After state testing, students and parents can access their child(ren) testing results through the LCS FOCUS Parent Portal. The results may be available during the summer of 2024 or sooner.

Please reach out to the LCS Home Education Office for assistance regarding your FOCUS Parent Portal registration information if you do not have a FOCUS Parent Portal already set up.

An access code will be sent to the parents and students in the testing registration letter.

  • All home-educated students participating in State Testing at their Leon County home-zoned school must arrive 15 minutes before the arranged testing time (in the front office).

All Home Educated students must provide their own transportation to and from the testing site each day.

If any home-educated student shows up at a school without completing the registration requirements and a testing appointment with the zoned school confirmation, the student will not be tested and must wait until the next testing window opens.

  • The State of Florida assessments are offered in a computer-based format unless the student has a valid IEP/504 plan stating that the student must take a paper-based assessment.

All students can complete an online practice test to prepare for online testing. This will familiarize the student with the assessment layout and item types. The FAST practice material can be accessed using the link below.
