Register 2 Ride
Welcome to Ready to Ride Registration

All students* must register to ride an LCS School bus each year before they may ride the bus.
Leon County Schools requires all eligible students needing bus transportation through the school district for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year to register for a bus assignment. Students choosing not to ride a bus to school should NOT register to ride.
*NOTE: This transportation registration process is used for students who are requesting a bus stop for their ZONED school or special sites ONLY (SAIL High School, Ghazivini Learning Center, Rickards IB, and Fairview Middle Pre-IB). The transportation registration process for students in a special ESE program with transportation placed by IEP decision, Foster, Homeless, and Teen Parent, has not changed and will continue to be processed by schools, and those bus riders should NOT use this online registration form.
Parents and guardians must complete bus registration for each child separately to ensure their student is assigned to a route. Eligible students will be assigned only ONE bus stop, as determined by the student's official home address on file for the student in Focus.
If an additional bus stop assignment is required and is located in the same school zone as the official home address on file listed in FOCUS, a second bus stop may be added during the routing process. If approved, you will receive notification via FOCUS email. Send a request to email: transportation@leonschools.net.
Non-Eligible students
- Students living less than two miles from their school are NOT eligible for bus transportation (unless the area has been determined to be hazardous based on Florida Statute 1006.23).
- By submitting this form, you acknowledge that courtesy transportation is subject to seat availability. The Transportation Department periodically evaluates bus capacity and may discontinue courtesy transportation for students who reside within two miles of their assigned school if seats are needed for eligible riders. Priority is given to students attending their home-zoned school.
Please note: Students NOT eligible to ride an LCS school bus due to the restrictions above, may instead opt to utilize the free StarMetro STAR Card program instead.
Note: You must have a Linked Parent Account to register for a bus.
- Log in to your parent/guardian Focus account
- Select Forms
- Select your child’s name on the form
- Select the LCS Ready to Ride Bus Stop Request
- Review the address. Note that the student's primary address is used to determine the bus assignment.
- If the address is correct: Go to “I am requesting bus stop transportation for my student” and select Yes.
- If the address is incorrect: Contact your child’s school to update before proceeding.
- Select either AM only, PM only, or AM and PM
- Click Submit Request.
Repeat these steps for any additional students in the family separately. Each child MUST be registered to ride separately.

If you did not receive a notification to ride, it is either because you were not eligible to ride, or you may be attempting to register a student into an exceptional program (i.e.: students in a special ESE program with transportation placed by IEP decision, Foster, Homeless, or Teen Parent). These programs are processed by the schools directly using the Transportation Request Form or Special Site Form. Please contact your school site if your child falls under one of these programs.
Please see the Transportation FAQ’s or visit the Ready 2 Ride page to access more FAQ’s regarding transportation eligibility under the Who Must Register section, and verify that your home address and contact information is correct with your child’s registered school.

A transportation request must be submitted each year to guarantee your student a bus assignment on the first day of school.
Parents are not required to deny transportation. If you do not want your child to ride the bus, you simply do not have to do anything; just do not fill out the Ready 2 Ride form in FOCUS.
-
There are no hard deadlines to register for a bus stop. Registering for a bus stop automatically assigns you to the bus stop. To ensure you, as a parent, know that your selected bus stop has been officially assigned in the system, just make sure you register before the First day of school.
-
To register for the school bus, every student must have a student ID #, which is issued after the student is properly enrolled in LCS. Please visit the LCS Admissions website to get your student enrolled properly.
Once you have properly enrolled your student, you may register your student for bus transportation using the steps and procedures provided on the Ready 2 Ride webpage.
-
If your child is eligible for transportation, visit the “Ready 2 Ride” webpage and register using the form and following the steps under “How to Register”.
-
Yes. Students may ride the bus in both the morning and afternoon. They may also opt to only ride in the morning or only ride in the afternoon. If the stop/student is removed from the schedule due to not riding for an extended period, a new registration request will be needed to reactivate the stop. Please note: for a student to ride the bus, they must be registered at a school.
