What Does Title I Do?

  • Leon County Title I School Plans are developed by individual school sites. Each site conducts a needs assessment and collaborates with stakeholders to write their plan. Title I Plans are aligned to the School-Wide Improvement Plan as well as the Every Student Succeeds Act (2015) requirements. These plans reflect program implementation to increase student achievement. Teachers, parents, administrators, students, and stakeholders are involved in the development and implementation of each school's plan. Plans must be aligned to federal, state, and district program guidance.

A school’s Parent and Family Engagement Plan supports parental engagement at each school. Required parent notifications, including the Title I School Compact and Parent Right to Know Notice, help to support the important role parents play in their child’s education.

  • A solid bond between the school and parents develops a school partnership which fosters a child's academic success. Academic performance in the classroom can be achieved through the parent resource centers by encouraging this relationship and focusing on families and their needs. The centers also encourage parent engagement in the schools and support families by providing a comfortable environment where family members can grow with each other and interact positively with the school.
