Journey of a Teacher…

“Working for Leon County Schools has provided me with incredible opportunities throughout my 26-year career as an educator. I began my journey as a Technology Education teacher, earning my National Board certification in my fourth year. Through our classroom programs, I became a Certified Master Instructor and an expert in industry certification, testing center administrator, staff development trainer, mentor teacher, legislative and cybersecurity consultant, multiple textbooks published as an editor, and Vice President of our teacher association. After spending 16 years in the classroom, I was invited to serve as an instructional technology specialist and serve as a liaison between the district and the school’s administration, faculty, and staff leveraging my extensive classroom experience and legislative process knowledge to help the district continue to inovate and  implement numerous initiatives, serving as the Canvas LMS administrator, SSO administrator, Blended Learning coordinator, and website administrator, among various other responsibilities. 

 

All of these experiences paved the way for my current role as the district's Website Architect. Being part of a team that values collaboration and continued professional growth to become the best that I can be has greatly enriched my experience as an educator. Education has the power to transform lives. It has enabled me to make a meaningful impact on our students, support my colleagues’ career advancement, and enhance my own professional journey while meeting the needs of our parents and students. Watching students transform into confident young adults as they face new challenges, blaze their own paths in the world and succeed because you were able to be an important apart of their journey to get here has been absolutely amazing and none of that would have probably happend if I had not worked right here in Leon County Schools.”
