Leon County Schools Invites Students to Participate in Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day

Leon County Schools is proud to participate in the National Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day on Thursday, April 23, 2026. This annual event offers students a valuable opportunity to explore the workplace, gain real-world insight, and begin thinking about future career paths.
Students in grades 3 through 8 are eligible to take part in this experience by accompanying a parent or guardian to work for the day.

Participation in this event can be a meaningful extension of classroom learning, helping students connect their education to future opportunities. Families are encouraged to take advantage of this chance to expose students to a variety of careers and professional environments.
Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Participation is subject to school approval. A principal may deny participation if it conflicts with a student’s required state assessments.
  • Parents or guardians must have approval from their employer for their child to attend the workplace.
  • To receive an excused absence, a written statement on company letterhead must be submitted verifying the student’s participation in addition to filling out the official request form.
  • Failure to submit the required documentation by the deadline will result in the absence being marked unexcused.
Leon County Schools looks forward to supporting students as they explore the world beyond the classroom and discover the possibilities ahead.
