Interested in Applying for an Instructional Position?

To be considered for an instructional position with Leon County Schools, you must first apply for certification through the Florida Department of Education (DOE).

To receive a valid Statement of Eligibility (SOE), you must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree, and
  • Demonstrate subject area mastery in the subject area for which you are seeking certification.

If you do not demonstrate subject area mastery, DOE may issue an SOE that is not valid for employment in the requested subject area.

There Are Two Ways to Demonstrate Subject Area Mastery

Option 1 — College Transcript

DOE can review your college transcript to determine whether your coursework meets the requirements for the subject area you are seeking.

You can review the requirements and self-assess your transcript using the DOE's Certificate Subjects information.

Option 2 — Subject Area Certification Exam

If your college transcript does not demonstrate the required subject area mastery, you may demonstrate mastery by passing the appropriate Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FTCE) subject area exam.
