-
The ½ penny sales tax funds are dedicated to long-term facility improvements and cannot be used for salaries or daily operating expenses.
-
There will be no increase in the effect on our community. This is not a new tax, but merely a reauthorization to continue collecting the ½-penny sales tax, which is critical to your local school districts' ability to provide tour services to the local community. The ½ penny sales tax has been in place for the last 15 years. It was previously renewed back in 2012 by the voters to support the local school district's needs.
One of the greatest benefits of leveraging a ½ penny sales tax is that it helps us to raise the required local effort funds from everyone equally through the ½ penny sales tax. This means that instead of increasing our local property taxes, these funds can be raised through a much more effective and diverse effort that simultaneously improves your local funding efforts, while also allowing those funds to be raised through sales generated by annual tourism, vcapitol city isitors, and game day sales as well, while ensuring that we are able to keep our local property taxes and rent costs lower for our local citizens.
-
Updates will be shared through district communications and public reports.
-
District leaders, staff members and community members have worked diligently over the past several months to examine current challenges, future enrollment projections, and long-term facility needs in our district.
