LCS is pleased to announce the commencement of an adoption of science instructional materials in the Fall of 2024 and Spring of 2025. For this adoption, LCS has requested the participation of all publishing companies that are listed on the FLDOE Adopted List. For each participating publisher, a series of links will be posted to a dedicated webpage ‘Science Adoption’ where reviewers will find the public product preview links, pricing of packages, professional development plans, and other related publisher documents.
The process tentative timeline will be as follows:
- September 24, 2024: Request to schools for K-5 Committee Members (email)
- September 30, 2024: Request for K-5 Committee Members closes (meeting slide)
- October 8, 2024: K-5 Committee training, materials review, publisher presentations
- October 10, 2024: Post digital access for public viewing and publisher’s presentations
- October 11-November 8, 2024: K-5 school-site review/vote
- November11, 2024: Open Committee Voting Form
- November 15, 2024: Close Committee Voting Form
- November 19, 2024: Recommendation for School Board Consideration, 20-Day public review begins.
- TBA January 2025: Public Hearing
- January/February 2025: Recommendation to LCS School Board Adoption and School Board vote.
- TBA January/February 2025: Objection Form posted
- TBA January/February 2025: Community/Parent objections deadline to submit
- TBA February 2025: Objection Hearing Meeting Posted
- TBA February 2025: Objection Hearing
