• Leon County Schools Rapid Communication System (RCS)

    There are times during the school year when the school district needs to rapidly communicate directly with our parents and staff. When those situations occur, the district will quickly send text alerts and emails to the contact information on file in our Focus Parent Portal accounts. 

    If you received a text alert on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 6 p.m., the system will work for you. If this was an urgent matter, the link you received would have navigated you to important information regarding the situation. 

    If you did not receive a text alert on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 6 p.m, then please follow the instructions below to update your contact information. 

    Thank you for your help in building the LCS Rapid Communication System. In the event of an emergency, it is of paramount importance for LCS to communicate rapidly, accurately, and effectively. Having the correct contact information in Focus is vital to making sure you are receiving important updates and information that pertains to your student’s safety. If LCS does not have correct information in the Focus system, it will be impossible to communicate with you in the future. 

    LCS will not SPAM phone numbers using text messaging. This feature will only be used in times of urgency. 

    **Recommendation: all texts from the district will come from the number 22300. Consider saving that number in your contacts so you will be able to quickly identify the number in the future.

  • Updating Your Cell Phone Number

    Login to the Parent Portal account using your email and password.

    • All of your children will appear on the main page even if at different schools.

    • You will need to update the information on each child.

    1. Click the arrow to open the information on the student
    2. Click on "Child Info" 
    3. Click on "Addresses and Contacts" 
    4. Click on YOUR Name
    5. You can then edit the contact information

     • Update Your Phone Numbers--to receive text messages make sure a phone number is listed in the "Cell Phone Category" AND the SMS box needs to be checked.

         6. Click SAVE
