Mrs. Deana Young McAllister is a graduate of Agnes Scott College in Decatur Georgia where she earned her BS degree in Political Science and was certified to teach. Mrs. McAllister is also a graduate of National Louis University in Wheeling, Illinois where she earned her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and School Administration. Throughout her educational career, Mrs. McAllister has taught and served as the curriculum liaison in grades three thru eight. Within the past seventeen years, she has taught in the Atlanta Public School System; where she was selected as “Teacher of the Year” at Oglethorpe Elementary School, the Detroit Public School System, Matteson School District 162 (located in the south suburbs of the Chicago Area), Wheaton-Warrenville School District 200 in Wheaton Illinois, and most recently in Naperville Community Unit School District 203 in Naperville, Illinois (both suburbs located west of the Chicago area). Mrs. McAllister has served as a building administrator in Wheaton-Warrenville School District 200 and has also served as the Director of Human Resources for Naperville School District 203. She has been trained in the best practices for hiring certified and non-certified staff, the evaluation process for both certified and non-certified staff, and was also trained in and how to implement the Response to Intervention (RTI) Model at the building level to meet the immediate needs of children who are struggling in core academic areas.

Deana McAllister has served in many roles while employed in LCS. Upon moving here to Tallahassee, she served as the Assistant Principal for Administration at Amos P. Godby High School from 2009 until 2012. She then joined the Human Resources Department as the Instructional Section Director.  After which, Superintendent Hanna appointed her as the Director for Labor and Employee Relations and Chief Negotiator for Leon County Schools. In December 2019, Superintendent Hanna appointed Mrs. McAllister as the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources & Labor and Employee Relations. She currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of School Management and Employee Relations for the school district.
