• Juvenile Justice Education Programs

    The mission of Leon County School District Juvenile Justice (DJJ) Education Programs is to provide eligible students with high quality academic programs, integrated with research-based models designed to support the development of attitudes, behaviors, and life skills, in order to increase opportunities for success upon return to traditional school programs and the community.

    Pace Center for Girls operates its school program under a contract with the Leon County School Board.  The school program is integrated with a prevention program authorized by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.  Parents and students interested in the program should contact the school.  Educational services are provided year-round.  This program is monitored for compliance with its contract and with local, state, and federal laws by Leon County Schools.     Leon Regional Juvenile Detention Center:

    The Leon County School Board operates a school program within the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice’s detention center located in Leon County.   Youth placed in this center have been assessed as risks to public safety and are placed in a secure detention center while awaiting court proceedings and when the court determines a need for continued detention.  Leon County Schools provides educational services to students from Leon County and surrounding counties to continue learning while in detention.  Educational services are provided year-round.     Leon County Detention Center Facility Education Program (Juvenile Division):

    The Leon County School Board operates a public school program for Leon County students within the Leon County Detention Facility through a contract with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. This school provides an opportunity for students to continue their education while confined to this correctional program.
