The most impressive advances Leon County School District made from 2010 to today is in the area of District Infrastructure and can be largely attributed to Alan Cox’s leadership, resourcefulness and teambuilding. In 2010 Leon County rated at 76% and in 2016 improved to an outstanding 93%! Having a solid district infrastructure in place is the strongest indicator for future sustainability.

Members of the Florida Coordinated School Health Partnership and the Executive Committee of Florida Action for Healthy Kids, presented the GOLD level Florida Healthy School District flag to Leon County School Board. The Florida Coordinated School Health Partnership and Florida Action for Healthy Kids, Florida Association of District School Superintendents and the newest sponsor Florida Healthy Kids Corporation applaud Leon County Schools for establishing a culture and climate in which students and staff can reach their personal potential and for continuing to serve as a leader in the state in reducing and eliminating the barriers to learning, resulting in increased academic achievement. Leon County is one of only eleven districts in the State of Florida achieving the prestigious gold level recognition.
