  • 2020-2021 Ed Options - 6/14/20

At this time, we have not received information from the State of Florida regarding the plan for re-opening schools in August. However, I am strongly advocating that schools fully reopen in the fall. I know that you have many questions when it comes to the anticipated reopening of schools. I want to reassure you that we are making every effort to accommodate the needs and preferences of our families, while at the same time, making the health and safety of our students and staff our top priority. We want you to be aware of our direction and focus to assist you with your 2020-2021 planning, and we are requesting your help with our parent survey (www.leonschools.net/EdOptionsSurvey) as we prepare for staffing and logistics regarding our three educational models. As previously announced, all LCS students will be receiving smart devices for the 2020-2021 school year, which will be incorporated into the three choices: Return to School, LCS Digital Academy, and LCS Virtual School

  • Announcing a proposal to provide every LCS student a device - 6/1/20

Superintendent Rocky Hanna is extremely proud to bring a recommendation to the School Board that would provide a device for every student in the Leon County School System. This 1-to-1 initiative is a annual investment of $2.6 million for the next four years, that will ensure all 32,000 of our students have access to technology. The funding for this proposal will not require the district to borrow any new money and is funded from dollars that are restricted for this purpose. This is just part of the plan to re-imagine our school district in the months to come. Look for more details over the next few weeks. We would also like to thank all of our School Board Members for their input and leadership on this issue.
