21st Century After School Program at Hartsfield Elementary
Welcome! My name is Nikki Glenn and I am currently serving as the 21st Century Site Coordinator, here at Hartsfield Elementary. I have 20 years of experience working with children inside and outside of the classroom and several years of experience working with grant-funded programs. At Hartsfield Elementary, we want our students to have the opportunity to build positive relationships within themselves as well as with others around them. My goal is to provide students with the tools they need to flourish academically, emotionally, and socially.
We look forward to a new school year and our 21st Century staff will provide students with a safe and warm learning environment that promotes growth on all developmental levels. Hawks in grades 3rd through 5th are welcome but spots are limited! Our program is filled with not only academics but fun enrichment to keep your student(s) engaged! Keep up with homework and enjoy some extra time with a teacher. Please download a registration form or contact me for more information.
21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC)
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) initiative is a key component of the No Child Left Behind Act. Authorized under Title IV, Part B, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, the specific purposes of the federal law are to:
- Provide opportunities for academic enrichment, including providing tutorial services to help students, particularly students who attend low-performing schools, to meet state and local student academic achievement standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and mathematics.
- Offer students a broad array of additional services, programs, and activities, such as youth development activities, drug and violence prevention programs, counseling programs, art, music, and recreation programs, technology education programs and character education programs, that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating students.
- Offer families of students served by community learning centers opportunities for literacy and related educational development.
