  • Model One: Back to School Monday through Friday with Face-to-Face Instruction

For the in-school full-time option, children will go to school as normal, five days a week. This is the default option. If you prefer this option for your child, no further registration is needed. To maximize the opportunity for social distancing and minimize the spread of COVID-19, students in sixth to eighth grades will attend their regular school, but will shift to a block scheduling.  This means students will attend their 1st, 3rd, and 5th classess on (A) days, and will attend their 2nd, 4th, and 6th pd classes on (B) days during the week.  Each class will be 105 minutes to limit transitions and decrease the amount of total contact between students and teachers.

Model Two: Learn from home in your school's Digital Academy

The first virtual model is your school's Digital Academy. This distance learning option will utilize the new Canvas LMS system to deliver instruction which is completly different than when COVID-19 forced remote, home-based learning in March. This year, Digital Academy students will participate in live lessons following their school's normal daily class schedule. Students will need to log into class online during their normal class time.

Because all specialized programs and electives cannot be delivered both in-school and through distance learning, elective choices for middle school students may be limited in the Digital Academy model.

Register for your schools Digital Academy through Focus. To register, you will need a parent FOCUS account linked to your children. If you do NOT have a parent account, you can create your account and link your children by clicking here. Students choosing this option can also choose to return to their regular school at the end of each grading period or earlier under extenuating circumstances.

Model Three: Learn from home in the Leon County Virtual School Franchise

The second virtual model is K-12 students can also enroll in the Leon County Virtual School franchise (LCVS). LCVS is a fully online virtual school the district has operated for 10 years. Students can choose to enroll in LCVS as their regular, full-time school. Students who choose LCVS have to withdraw from their regular school and switch their enrollment to LCVS.  Information about LCVS and enrollment can be found on the Leon County Virtual School page.

LCVS is an option for students who intend to participate in online instruction for the entire year.

All middle school options will be in place on Aug. 31st.
