ESE Information
In Florida, children who have special learning needs are called exceptional students. Exceptional students include students who are gifted and students with disabilities. The special help these students are given at school is called exceptional student education (ESE). The purpose of ESE is to help each child with an exceptionality to progress in school and prepare for life after school. Exceptional student education services may include special teaching methods and materials.
Montford Middle School offers a complete curriculum of ESE programs to meet the needs of our students. Unique Skills is a support class which teaches organizational skills, test-taking strategies, and provides remediation of skills which will help make your student successful in their core subjects. In addition, Montford has a full-time program for students on ACCESS standards. Our ACCESS program has opportunities to take part in Special Olympics, field trips into the community, and instruction in both academics and life/social skills. Our full-time Behavioral Specialist is available to assist and mentor any students who may need some extra encouragement.
