Mrs. Taylor’s Math Class, Montford Middle School Virtual Plan

    My Dear Parents and Students,

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I wouldn’t be able to see my sweet students after Spring Break.  My heart is truly breaking.  I have cried for several days, as this has now become reality.  As a parent of three children of my own, whom are all in school, I can totally relate to your fears and frustration that our state is in at this time.  It is still my goal to provide a safe and positive academic environment that fosters a love of learning in these difficult times.  Your children will defiantly be empowered with the tools necessary to be successful not only in math, but in the real world.  It is still my strong belief that parent/teacher communication is at the heart of student success! We are going to embark on this new adventure together. Taking it one-step at a time. You will still be able to communicate with me through e-mail.  Now, you will also have the ability to communicate with me through Microsoft TEAMS.

    Microsoft TEAMS

Leon County Schools will be using Microsoft TEAMS as the learning platform for students. This is located on your child’s Classlink.

Once they are in, they should see a “TEAM” for each one of their classes. Each TEAM has the capability of communication through messages, video conferences, and even phone calls. The online video meetings are limited to four people. Therefore, I will use Zoom, from time to time, to allow the students to see each other face to face.

    Student Weekly Expectations

Beginning on Monday, April 13, I will be posting weekly assignments on my class website and in TEAMS. You can go to either place to find the assignments.

    1. Check for your assignments for the week. You will have a “Things to Do:” list.

(Example of tasks: watching videos, guided practice, independent practice, and test/quizzes)

    1. It will be your responsibility to complete the weekly tasks for the week and do any assignments/tests assigned to you in your online textbook.
    2. Check your grades in focus.
    3. If you need HELP, contact me through TEAMS during my office hours 3:00pm-5:00pm.

    Office Hours

    Monday-Friday 3:00pm-5:00pm

During these hours, I will be available to answer questions, video conference, and even talk to your child through his/her TEAM page.

I understand that you are busy with other responsibilities and those times may not be the best for you and your family. If you contact me outside of those hours, I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Please understand that I am here for you.  We have all taken on more than we ever thought we would have to during these trying times. Our patience are going to be tested, but together we can make the best of these circumstances. I will be very flexible and work with you in any way I can.

Welcome to Mrs. Taylor's Advanced & Gifted Math class. I consider it an honor and privilege to be working with you this year. It is my goal to provide a safe and positive environment that fosters a love of learning. It is my hope that you will be empowered with the tools necessary to be successful not only in math, but in the real world.
