Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Hilary Urbanek, and I am looking forward to teaching your children this year. This is my ninth year teaching the K-2 Communication and Behavior Supports (CBS) Class here at Hawks Rise. I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's and Master's in Exceptional Student Education and Curriculum and Planning. I am certified to teach Exceptional Student Education and Elementary Education, and have endorsements for Reading, ESOL, and Autism.
I have lived in Florida all of my life, living in Orlando, then Jacksonville, and finally moving to Tallahassee in 2008 to attend FSU. My entire family has attended FSU, so I am a die-hard FSU fan. I have one younger sister, who lives in Jacksonville. I have a dog and a cat, Renegade and Jasper. I love to travel, and have been fortunate to have been able to travel overseas a couple of times.
I am very passionate about my job, and will try anything at least once in the classroom. I believe that a successful classroom is run by a team of people! I am very fortunate to have 3 Paraprofessional helpers, Ms. Baity, Mrs. Myers, and Mr. Moosmann, and I could not run the classroom without them. I also work very closely with the OT and Speech therapists who assist our students. Lastly, parent involvement and communication is a key aspect to our team. Please feel free to come to me with any questions, comments, and concerns at firstname.lastname@example.org or at the school number (850)-487-4733.
