I'm Mrs. Deason, and I am excited to be your child's kindergarten inclusion teacher this school year! I wanted to extend a warm and friendly welcome to our new kindergarten families. We are going to have an amazing year together! I can't wait to get to know all of you and your little ones!!
A Little About Me: I was born and raised right here in our beautiful city of Tallahassee! I myself am a product of our local schools as a Trailblazer(3rd-5th), Buck and Timber Wolf. I have many wonderful-long lasting experiences and connections to these schools. In December 2006, I graduated from Flagler College(TCC campus) with a dual degree in both Elementary and Exceptional Education. During college, I was lucky enough to get a well-rounded education that allowed me to also become certified in E.S.O.L. & become Reading Endorsed. I completed my college education with an internship at Ft. Braden under the late and great Jimbo Jackson. While at the Fort, I was privileged with opportunities in both the Kindergarten & ESE resource settings. After my college graduation, I took various substitute jobs at Kate Sullivan, Springwood & Woodville before being a full-time Pioneer at the Fort as an assistant reading coach. After the birth of my beautiful boy(a month early), I quickly came to the conclusion that it was time to stay home with my newborn son while he was in the NICU. I've been extremely blessed to have those amazing moments with him at home early on while he was so young.
I taught varying exceptionalities(self-contained) when coming to Hawks Rise for the first 5 years and then I co-taught 4th grade math and 3rd-5th science/social studies for a year and now Kindergarten (for 6 years). I also taught resource classes in reading and math in 1st grade one year! I love it here for the almost 13 years I've been at Hawks Rise! It has been such a joy to teach here among some of the most legendary faculty members and be a part of an amazing school family!!
I absolutely love teaching Kindergarten as a part of the Dream Team... it has my heart!!
My Family: I have been married to my wonderful husband, Jared, for 19 years and we have a terrific son! My boy, Nolan, is attending JPII High School as a 9th grader this school year(all ready to get a drivers' license and take off to outer space as an aeronautical engineer & college as a Texas A&M Aggie, he thinks). I have a few other four-legged "family" members: the Deason's love all of our CRAZY low-riding dogs. Yes, we were truly meant to be a doxie family!!! We also have a family farm in neighboring Gadsden and Liberty counties full of deer fawns with their momma does & big daddy bucks, along with a catfish pond.
A Few of My Favorite Things: My family life keeps me pretty well busy(especially as an Aunt Née Née to a fast-growing 1 yr old boy), but I also love reading about places to travel(fell in love with Mt. Rushmore this past summer as our crew explored the Black Hills), experimenting with cooking in our new tiny barndi-minimum kitchen even without a dishwasher(while our 1st home is being built), being in the woods on a cool fall day or early in the morning as the suns coming up walking with friends, nibbling on sweet & salty snacks during a ball game (Go Braves!!!), and the time we spend on the water fishing!!
So buckle in for the kindergarten adventure! It is going to be SUCH an amazing school year but, be sure your lil hawks will grow so fast(don't blink)! We are going to have so much fun learning through many story-telling times & movement moments with an occasional messy hands-on activity or two during our Fun Friday class tradition. Together every day, side by side, we will learn so much! I can't wait to get started :)
