Mrs. Amy Franklin
My name is Amy Franklin and I teach 3rd, 4th and 5th grade gifted science both on campus and through the Digital Academy. I also teach 3rd grade STEM Special Area. Let me introduce myself and share some things about me.
I am a Florida native and grew up in the St. Petersburg area where I lived through high school. I came to FSU for my undergraduate studies, which is where I met my husband of 27 years. I worked in retail management for a year before getting married and moving back to Tallahassee to attend graduate school earning my Master’s degree in Elementary Education. I taught 3rd grade at Buck Lake Elementary and then was blessed to be able to stay home to raise my three children. I returned to teaching eleven years ago at Hawks Rise Elementary where I have taught the XCEL science program to gifted students in K-5th. In my years at Hawks Rise, I have also taught 4th grade Language Arts, 3rd grade advanced math, 4th & 5th grade math and 3rd grade STEM. This will be my 12th year of teaching and my 11th year at Hawks Rise.
My husband, Russ, and I have three children: Molly (23), Anna (21), and Matthew (17). In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, go to the beach and work outside in my yard. I absolutely love teaching and enjoy challenging my students to be their very best.
