Assistant Principal of Attendance

Mrs. John, Ed.S., M.Ed.            

Mrs. John serves as the Assistant Principal of Attendance at Leon High School. She brings a diverse and accomplished background in both education and science. She holds an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership, a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry.

Prior to entering the field of education, Mrs. John worked for approximately 12 years as a Senior Environmental Chemist. Her passion for science eventually led her into the classroom, where she taught Chemistry at Lincoln High School and later at Chiles High School. She has also taught life, earth, physical, and integrated sciences to middle school students in grades 6 through 8.

Mrs. John also served as the Principal of a charter school for six years. She believes that the fundamental goal of teaching is to foster learning and that every student is unique. Her educational philosophy centers around creating a safe, caring, and intellectually stimulating environment where students can grow emotionally, physically, socially, and academically.

Outside of her professional life, Mrs. John is a dedicated martial artist and holds a 2nd degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate. She enjoys practicing and teaching martial arts, spending relaxing days at the beach, traveling, reading, playing The Sims 4, and enjoying the calming scents of aromatic candles. She is also a proud wife and mother to three wonderful adult children.

Attendance Secretary

Ms. Myles            

Ms. Myles is the Attendance Secretary and the face of the attendance office here at Leon High School. Ms. Myles touches many stakeholders and is happy to greet all with a friendly smile, provide helpful information and prides herself on sending everyone off with heartfelt blessings for the day.  Ms. Myles joined our attendance team with a plethora of experience within the Leon County School System. She has served as a paraprofessional at Killearn Lakes Elementary for 16 years, serving in roles in an ESE classroom (12 yrs), a pre-K classroom (2 yrs) and a media center aide (2 yrs).  She has also spread her wings soaring into high school where she worked at Godby High School for 2 yrs. prior to joining us here Leon. Go Big Red!

Ms. Myles has 2 wonderful children, a son and a daughter. She enjoys spending time with her children, exercising, traveling and going out to enjoy a good movie on the big screen!

Clerical Assistant and Clinic Aide

Ms. Sawyer           

Ms. Sawyer serves two roles in the attendance office here at Leon High School. She is the Clerical Assistant and also maintains the daily operation of the clinic in her role as the Clinic Aide. Ms. Sawyer's vast clerical experience stems from her employment in both the Health and Education fields. She has earned her Associates degree and is continuing her educational journey, working towards the final stages of completing her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education.  Ms. Sawyer formerly instructed 7th grade math in Hillsborough County, and she also has 3 years of Cheer Coaching experience. In addition, you may catch Ms. Sawyer in the evenings at a local hospital completing patient intakes!  

Ms. Sawyer is a self-proclaimed foodie who loves to explore new and interesting recipes. She enjoys cooking, traveling, and likes to kick off her mornings with a great workout with her personal trainer.
