Freshman/New Student Orientation - August 10,2021

  • July 15, 2021

    Dear Parents,

Welcome to School year 2021-22!  It’s hard to believe that our short summer is almost over but please know that Leon High School is working hard to be ready for an exciting new school year.  I hope you are too.  My name is Michael Bryan and I am the new principal at Leon High School.  However, I am neither a new principal nor am I new to Leon as I was here a few years ago as an assistant principal.  I enjoyed my time here then as I know I will enjoy it now.  It is great to be back in the Lion’s Den!

While I am looking forward to meeting everyone, the main purpose of this letter is to let everyone know the details of our Freshmen & New Student Orientation.  This event will be on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 starting at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 10:00 a.m.  (While this date/time is a little different than the district recommendation, it is necessary due to other commitments.)  As in the past, we will begin the orientation in the auditorium with a brief program that highlights some very important people and some awesome school organizations.  Following this, students will be released to pick up their schedules and locate their classes with the assistance of many upperclassmen in the hallways.  You will be free to join them after a few brief minutes with me to share some parent information.

Please note, though, that there are a couple of considerations for you in advance of this event.  First, parking is always at a premium at Leon High School so please plan accordingly.  Some of you will inevitably have to do a little walking.  Secondly, please know that the initial gathering in the auditorium will be very crowded.  While many of us are vaccinated and masks are optional, I want everyone to feel comfortable and safety is still our first priority.  We have considered many ways to split this event into two parts to reduce the crowd, but none of them seemed reasonable or fair to families or school staff.  Please know that we fully understand the decision that some of you will feel you must make.  (Schedules will be posted in FOCUS even if you are not on campus this day.)  Additionally, we are hoping to record the program in the auditorium so that those who are not here can view it later.  Finally, there will also be sprit items on sale in our Cafeteria this day for those who need some “red and white.”

Again, welcome to the 2021-22 school year!  I can’t wait to hear you roar!

    Michael W. Bryan
