Welcome

  • It's time to get back to work

Welcome Back to the Second-First Day of School,

I am very excited to get back to what I love to do, TEACH.  Even though we never imagined that we would be teaching virtually, we are at that point so, I want to make the best out of the time we have left in school.  I will be using Edmodo, Remind/Email, and Teams to get my curriculum across to my students.  It is going to be very important that we have the utmost respect for this online world that we are about to engage in.  The technology items that I am using are the ones that are approved by the District and the safest ones to use.

This quarter, I hope to teach Poetry (which we already started), Greek Mythology, and Drama.  We will have digital access to our classroom textbook, along with other supplemental materials, and I will still be using the Achieve 3000 and CommonLit platforms for instruction as well.  Things will be constantly changing, so please be flexible with your expectations.  I am going to be flexible as well with my students.  Our motto for this chapter of school is Flexibility, Grace, and Compassion.

Everyone has read the Policies and Procedures for the 6th grade team, and these rules and school rules should still be adhered to when applicable.  Our late policy is the big change.  Students will no longer be given 1/2 credit for late work.  Instead, assignments should meet the due dates, but if you have challenges, all teachers will be flexible (the key is communication with the teacher).  If we never receive an assignment though, please understand there is nothing we can do about assignments we don't receive, so that would remain a zero.  By the way, we will not be teaching our homeroom classes, so that is one less thing you have to worry about. Quality points are very important and you need to check to see if you have at least 4 quality points before the year is over to be promoted (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, and F=0).

All of my students are wonderful, and I want to continue to support you as best I can.  Therefore, my office hours will be Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 12:00pm.  During these hours I will be online looking at emails, and answering them, or instructing students through Teams.  If you happen to email at any other time, please understand it may take me until the next day to answer.  In addition, I will use Edmodo to display my weekly lesson plans, and Teams to have bi-weekly videoconferencing meetings with students about the assignments.  Please let me know anything that I can do to make this an easy process, we are swimming in unchartered water, and I want this to be a smooth process for all involved.

My Teams Meeting schedule has changed as of 4/24/2020, please see the meeting times below:

      • Period 2-Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00am
      • Period 3-Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30am
