MSG JEROME A. KERRISON (Ret.)

MSG Kerrison was born and raised in Leesburg, Florida. He is a 1971 graduate of Leesburg Senior High School. He enlisted in the Army on April 19, 1976. He received his Associates degree from the University of Central Texas.

MSG Kerrison enlisted assignments consisted of team and squad leader, assistant platoon sergeant, platoon sergeant, 1st Sergeant/Tactical Non-Commissioned Officer, Administrative Supervisor, Senior Instructor/Writer, and Chief Instructor/Writer. He served as a 1SG/Tactical NCO at the United States Military Preparatory School, leading cadets to go to the United States Military Academy. He culminated 21 years as the Chief/Instructor Writer of the Combat Indoctrination Committee, training basic training recruits at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. His assignments included tours in Germany (twice), Ft Campbell, Kentucky, Ft Monmouth, New Jersey, South Korea, and Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

MSG Kerrison military education consists of Light Weapon Infantry Course, Primary Leadership, Basic, Advanced Non-Commissioned Schools, Instructor Training Course, and Air Assault Course. His awards and decorations include Meritorious Service Medal 4th Award, Army Commendation Medal 4th Award, Army Achievement Medal 5th Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal 7th Award, Korean National Defense Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon 3rd Award, Air Assault Badge and the Expert Infantry Badge. He is a member of the prestigious United States Army Europe Sergeant Morales Club (Elite NCOs). He is the Recipient of the Krecel Award for Leadership and Commandant's Awards from Ft Campbell's Noncommissioned Officers Academy.

MSG Kerrison has served as a JROTC Army Instructor for 26 years, the last 12 years at Rickards High School and is the primary instructor for the Drill Team. His teams have won numerous trophies at the state and national levels. The Rickards Drill Team at the Florida State Drill Meet won two fourth Place Trophies and one 5th Place Trophy in 2015. Moreover, in 2015, the team placed in the top 10 in all categories entered (7).His teams have won at least one trophy at the state level for ten consecutive years, 2004-2013. There was not a state meet in 2014 and 2019. Rickards placed 4th at the Florida State Meet in the Unarmed Platoon Regulation event in 2018.

MSG Kerrison is married to the former Beverly Jones of Leesburg, Florida (NBCT) now Assistant Principal, Gretchen Evenhart. They have three adult children, Jerome II, Jeremy, and Jerrod, all three with MBA’s from FAMU.
