    AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness system for elementary through higher education that is designed to increase school wide learning and performance.

    The AVID College Readiness System (ACRS) accelerates students' learning, uses research-based methods of effective instruction, provides meaningful and motivational professional learning, and acts as a catalyst for systemic reform and change.

    The 2022 AVID Class has earned over $2 million in scholarship opportunities.


    All students and families should have applied for Financial Aid, which opened October 1st. If you have not done so, please visit www.studentaid.gov. Be sure to apply for the 2021 year, which covers the Summer semester, and the 2022 year, which covers the Fall and Spring semesters. Thanks.

    The FASFA application process is right around the corner (October 1st)!!!!! Please visit https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa to prepare.

    We are proud of our students that participated in the Tallahassee Southside Rotary Youth Service Project. Students completed a series of activities showing their appreciation for our Veterans. This was a rewarding experience that allowed us to discuss 9/11 and other issues surrounding our country. Thank you to those that donated shoes, cards, and video presentation.

    Attached you will find the AVID Welcome Letter. We are looking forward to a great year! 

    AVID Seniors will begin applying for college on Monday!! They will need a picture of the following for residency purposes: Parent Driver's License, Parent Voter Registration Card, Parent Vehicle Registration Card. Two of the three documents are needed to determine residence in the State of Florida and state tuition. Also, be sure that your senior is registered for the October 2nd SAT and October 23rd ACT tests. We are also getting juniors registered for these tests as well.

    Congratulations to the AVID Class of 2021 for their accomplishments in amassing $858,000 in scholarship opportunities and still growing!!!!!


    This summer, members of our 2021 senior class participated in the Tallahassee Community College Eagle RISE program. Students earned scholarships valued at $4,000 for summer courses, Fall priority, books and supplies, and brand new laptops. This is a signature program at TCC that helps our students get off to a great start. We are honored to work with Dean Turner and TCC to improve the lives of our youth.
