Mr. Turkle
I'm Tyler Turkle and this is my second year teaching 8th grade U.S. History and 6th grade World History at Fort Braden Middle School. Before coming to FB Middle School, I was a substitute teacher at Fort Braden Elementary as well as many other schools across the Leon County School District. I am also a former Professor of Art and Cinematography at Florida State University as well as the former Executive Director of the Foundation for Leon County Schools.
I look forward to engaging students in an exciting way of teaching and learning over the next few weeks. Our classes have been using online learning programs since the beginning of the current school year and I am proud to say they have all mastered the basic elements of how to learn from a distance. Students are very competent users of our online textbook provided by publisher McGraw Hill through their online service, MHConnectED. Reading lessons by chapter, vocabulary review, video presentations, quizzes and chapter assessments are all accomplished by students connecting to the MHConnectED app through CLASSLINK. Our students also have become very confident users of Achieve 3000 using the Achieve app through ClassLink which is an online learning program that challenges students to become better readers, writers and thinkers.
And finally, each and every student is adept at doing historical research using multiple search engines and news sources. All students in all classes are expert in finding the facts through these and other methods to answer the five W's which are so important to the study of History and the application of best research practices - Who, What, Where, When and Why
