PTO FAQ’s
What is the PTO or Parent Teacher Organization?
The Fort Braden PTO is a very important part of our school, bringing so much to parents, teachers, and, most importantly, the students. The PTO is an organization made up of parents and teachers who come together once a month to discuss fundraiser ideas, and where the monies raised are needed most in our school. The meetings are not only informative, decision-making meetings, but are fun for the parents as well. The PTO is a great way for the parents who would like to be involved in their children's lives to be a part of their children's school. Parents can meet other parents with similar interests and learn who our teachers are.
What does the PTO do?
The PTO’s primary objective is to host fundraisers to raise funds for the school.
The funds raised allow the PTO to provide books, supplies, and enrichment programs, as well as financial assistance to support field trips and teacher classroom wish list items. In addition, these funds have helped recognize very deserving students each year with honor roll banquets and recognition awards.
When and where are the PTO meetings held?
The monthly PTO meetings are on the third Thursday of each month at 6 pm and last about forty-five minutes.
Who can become a PTO member? How do you become a member?
Anyone who is a parent or legal guardian of a Fort Braden student is strongly encouraged to join the PTO as part of being an involved parent. Becoming a member is very easy. Simply attend a meeting! There are no PTO dues or sign up fees!
Do you have to attend meetings to be involved?
No. Many of our involved parents are not able to attend all meetings and, some parents in some cases cannot attend any of the meetings. However, they are still involved by participating in the PTO fundraisers, sending in items for different events, and attending different events. We do strongly encourage parents to attend when they can to share ideas and for decision-making items.
How can you stay up-to-date on these and other exciting non-PTO events?
Subscribe to the Fort Braden School Listserv! Announcements, updates and other pertinent information from our school are sent out straight to your inbox. There is no cost for this service and it is easy to join.
We hope that you will take part in this very important, worthwhile organization at your child's school. Happy New School Year!! We look forward to seeing you soon.
