    Dear Students and Parents,

Congratulations!!! You have been enrolled in the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) college preparatory program for the 2023-2024 school year. Our nationally certified AVID program has had great success during our 14-year tenure and we look forward to you carrying on that tradition of excellence. AVID is a college readiness system with the mission of closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and success in a global society. We focus on students in the “academic middle” and place them on a track for higher education offering tutoring during class twice each week as well as college and career readiness opportunities. Our program is an academic elective course that offers continuous progress monitoring for students. Our program is not a remedial course, but is one that pushes students to strive to reach their maximum potential.

For the past 12 out of 14 years, our program has graduated 100% of our students and last year secured over $2,000,000 in scholarships. Our students have been accepted to many prestigious Colleges and Universities throughout Florida and abroad having great success.

Our AVID Team consists of Mrs. Johnnie Mae Engram, engramj@leonschools.net  (9th Grade), Mr. Seddrick Holloway, holloways@leonschools.net  (9th Grade), Ms. Odiria Biggins, bigginso@leonschools.net  (10th Grade), and Mr. Earl Hankerson, hankersone@leonschools.net (11th & 12th Grade). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and visit www.avid.org for more details. We are anticipating a great year and look forward to great success.
