Hi! This is where you will find all of the necessary information regarding Distance Learning for English 4, including assignments, texts, and links to any important information.
REMIND:
In order to stay in touch with students with important information, we ask that all students sign up for Remind App updates (parents, you can join too). Below you will find the Remind App codes for each of my classes. If you are having any difficulty adding using the code, I can also manually add you using a cell phone number or email address.
2nd Period: @6fbgahkhkb
5th Period: @8ahk326493
6th Period: @4d266chk66
MICROSOFT TEAMS:
I will be utilizing Teams for uploading assignments, hosting discussion groups, and one-on-one conversations as needed. Teams can be located and accessed through Classlink. If you cannot access the Teams page for your class, please notify me so we can figure out the issue.
FOCUS:
Luckily all grades and grading will be done on FOCUS, as it has all year. Much like Microsoft Teams, students can upload their work directly in to the appropriate assignments on FOCUS.
EMAIL:
When in doubt, email is always a good fall back. However, I prefer that you only use email if you are unable to access any of the previously mentioned platforms. My email is delmonegoa@leonschools.net

Monday 4/20 Update
Posted by Anthony DelMonego on 4/20/2020Hi everyone, I wanted to make a brief but very important announcement regarding direct instruction.
As you all know, my classes are typically rather lecture-heavy. I like to talk. However, that is difficult to do with our current distance-learning model, and truth be told, I miss having our classroom dynamic where people are sharing their thoughts and we are discussing ideas. I have made a Youtube channel for presentations and assignment instruction, but I know that it doesn’t do everything that I want it to do.
So, in order to bridge that gap, I will also be introducing live discussion groups on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS in order to review content, answer any pressing questions, and host a group-oriented meet-up for students to attend so we can as closely resemble our usual classroom dynamic.
These discussions will take place during my office hours, and I strongly encourage you all to check in during these discussions so we can chat and make sure we have a better understanding of course materials. The last thing we want is for you to be confused by lessons when we are not around to help.
The schedule is as follows:
12:00pm - 12:30pm – English 4 review1:00pm - 1:30pm – English 3 Honors review
I have made new Microsoft Teams groups for all of my English 3 Honors students and English 4 students so I can facilitate the discussions for all of the classes fairly easily.

Friday 4/17 Update
Posted by Anthony DelMonego on 4/17/2020Happy Friday, folks!
This week has been an interesting one as we all transitioned to the Distance Learning model for our classes. While we have all been adjusting to the new routines and expectations, I wanted to put out an update on our way-of-work.
Attendance – While we are all obviously going to be working at our own pace, it is important that we know that you are active in the class. Starting next week, I will be implementing an “Attendance” grade. What this means is that all students need to check in with me during the week so that I can make sure that you understand the content and so I can answer any questions you have. The schedule for check-ins is as follows:
- Tuesdays: 2nd and 3rd periods
- Wednesdays: 4th and 5th periods
- Thursdays: 6th and 7th periods
I will send out a check-in message during those days on Remind and Teams. If all is well, simply send me a thumbs-up or some other short response. IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE, please let me know! I can only help you as much as you are willing to let me help you.
To show me that you’ve read this, reply with the name of your favorite TV show on your TEAMS page.
