To the SAIL [School for Arts and Innovative Learning] Community:

It is with great excitement and a deep sense of honor that I introduce myself as the new Principal of SAIL High School. I am thrilled to be joining this vibrant and dedicated community, and I am eager to work alongside each of you to continue the tradition of academic excellence, integrating the arts, and innovative teaching and learning that defines our school.  This year is especially exciting as we celebrate our 50thAnniversary!

With over 30 years of experience in education, I have had the privilege of serving as a teacher, administrator, professor in academe, mentor and lifelong learner. These roles have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the educational landscape and a strong belief in the transformative power of education. My goal as Principal is to foster an environment that focuses on the development of the whole child, is inclusive, and where every student feels valued, challenged, and inspired to achieve their full potential.

At SAIL, I am committed to:

Academic Excellence through the Arts and Innovative Teaching and Learning: Ensuring that our students receive a balanced and enriching education that prepares them for future success.

Community Engagement: Building strong partnerships with parents, teachers, and community members to support the integration of arts in the curriculum which will impact our students' growth and development.

Inclusive Environment: Creating a school culture that celebrates diversity and promotes respect, empathy, and understanding among all members of our community.

I am a firm believer in open communication and collaboration. Your insights, feedback, and active participation are essential as we work together to create a nurturing and stimulating school environment for all students. I encourage you to get involved in our school activities, join our Parent-Teacher Association, School Advisory Council, and attend school events. Your involvement makes a significant difference as we celebrate and continue to "SAIL Long – SAIL Strong" in this 50th year!

In the coming weeks, I look forward to meeting many of you in person. Whether it's during Orientation, drop-off and pick-up, at school events, or in more formal settings, I am eager to hear your thoughts and ideas. My door is always open, and I am here to support you and your child in any way I can.

Thank you for welcoming me into the SAIL family. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and confident that, together, we will continue to make the School for Arts and Innovative Learning a place where every student can thrive.

    Warmest regards,

    Dr. R.M. Blackwell-Flanagan
