Mr. Burkey graduated from Florida State University in 1995. He has spent the past 20 years at Deerlake Middle School where he currently serves as Dean of Students, Seventh Grade Team Leader, SAC Chair, Science Teacher, Cross Country Coach, and Soccer Coach.   His real passion is teaching Science. "The world around us is amazing.  Whether it's the camoflauge of a Leafy Sea Dragon, or the billions of galaxies that exist, it never gets old to me to seek new knowledge and explore more of this cool place we live! Amazing things surround us, and Science can explain most of it!".
