Welcome to Mrs. Carter's math class! This is my "first" official year teaching at Deerlake Middle School. I taught 6th grade math last year for the last few months of the school year, but I'm back with my own class and ready to go! I graduated from Florida State University (GO NOLES) with a B.S. and an M.S. in Mathematics Education. I started my educational career teaching math at Rickards High School here in Tallahassee. I then moved into K-12 Education at the College Board working with high schools across the country building their AP (Advanced Placement) Programs. I've spent 25 years working in education and I'm excited to bring it all back to where I started...in the classroom.
My husband, Mike, and I both grew up in Daytona Beach, FL and we have 2 teenage girls. Olivia is a senior and Reagan is a freshman, both at Chiles High School. Both of my girls "graduated" from Deerlake. We spend most of our free time either freezing to death or melting from the sun watching both of our girls play soccer or sitting in gyms or football fields watching Reagan cheer. Olivia is on the Chiles Girls Soccer team and plays travel soccer with ASG and Reagan is a varsity cheerleader at Chiles while still lacing up her cleats on the soccer field with ASG/Warner. I've spent many years at Deerlake over the past 6 years as former PTO President and just about every other PTO job you can think of. I love Deerlake and I'm excited to be here. I'm looking forward to a great year!
