How do I register my children?
For full information please visit our Office of Admissions Website for complete details. Students NEW to Leon County Schools must complete an online registration form. If your student is already enrolled in our system, but they are changing schools, you must submit proof of your address to your current school showing that you've moved into the DeSoto Trail school zone. Your student will automatically be transferred to our school, and you will have the opportunity to update your child's registration information through the FOCUS parent portal at the beginning of the school year. All proofs of residency should be sent to the LCS Office of Admissions at lcsadmissions@leonschools.net.For information about School Choice and Reassignment options, visit the LCS School Choice Office website. Leon County Schools offers reassignment for sibling support, grandfathering, over to under capacity, and hardship. The School Choice deadline is March 1.If you have questions about registration, you can contact DeSoto Trail's admissions liaison, LeJina Payne, at paynele@leonschools.net. -

Is there a summer reading list?
No, there is not a list of books for required summer reading. However, we do encourage our students to read at least six books of their choosing over the summer and keep a summer reading log. Those students returning to school with a completed summer reading log will get to participate in our Summer Reading Celebration. Information about how to become a star-studded reader and our summer reading log is available on our school website. We also have Watermelon Wednesdays, four afternoons where our Media Center is open during the summer to check out books. (For safety reasons, an adult must accompany children to the Media Center.) Subscribe to our listserv and follow our Facebook page for details about Watermelon Wednesdays and other events.
