Daily Folders
Please remember to have your child bring his/her blue folder to school every day.
Please check your child’s “Daily Folder.
Homework Folders
Every student should be reading an AR book(s) of his/her choice weekly so he/she can meet his/her goal for the second nine weeks. AR points are earned by taking tests at school on books he/she has read on his/her level or above and earning at least 80%. Students can take AR tests on books from our classroom library, school library, public library, or books from home as long as they are AR and on or above his/her reading level. Please remember to sign your child’s AR weekly reading log located in the back of the blue daily folder.
The last day to earn AR points for the second nine weeks is Thursday, December 20th.
Reading homework is in your child’s pink folder. The U2W5 reading homework is due back by Wednesday, December 12th.
Peek at This Week and Next Week
Reading- Our class started unit 2 week 5 yesterday. We will continue focusing on the things we love about animals. The children will read poetry about animals. The skills for u2w5 are rereading, main topic and key details of the story, multiple meaning words, and identifying possessive nouns. This week’s words contain three-letter-blends. The blends we will be focusing on are words that contain scr, spr, str, thr, spl, and shr. The u2w5 comprehension, spelling, writing and vocabulary assessments are scheduled for Wednesday, December 12th. This will be our last reading assessment for the 2nd nine weeks.
Math- We will complete chapter 4 on learning how to solve addition problems on with 2-digit addends using different strategies on Wednesday, December 12th. The chapter 4 assessment is scheduled for Thursday, December 13th. This will be our last math assessment for the 2nd nine weeks.
Please remember quick recall of addition/subtraction facts comes in handy for our next few math chapters. I would recommend spending 10 minutes each day doing math flashcards.
Science/Social Studies- Begin learning about Native Americans.
