Our Class Web Site

As the year progresses, I will be adding class information to this site.

Theme

A Peek at next Week:  August 28^th- September 1^st.

Reading-

We will begin unit 1 week 2 in Wonders on Monday, August 28th. The essential question for this week is how are families around the world the same and different? For unit 1/week 2, I will read the stories and all the answer choices to the class and guide them through the directions. The assessment will be graded but the grade will not be recorded. As we progress through unit 1, the expectations for working on reading tests independently will progress. Assessment grades will be recorded beginning with unit 1 week 3.

The page that is stapled to the back of the test is an example of a constructed response. We completed this writing together so you would have an opportunity to see what it should look like. I will continue modeling and handing over more of the responsibility for these writings to your child as the semester progresses. I will also provide feedback on the writing as we progress. The grades on these will not count until the second semester.

Math-

          We will complete chapter one on number concepts on Wednesday, August 30^th.  Our first math assessment will be on Friday, September 1^st.  

Science/Social Studies

          Begin learning Map Skills.

Monday, September 4th - Labor Day, no school!

Tuesday, September 5^th - Second grade Open House from 5:45-6:30 pm. Please bring your child with you, he/she will be your tour guide for the evening.

Wednesday September 6^th – Picture Day!

 I know many parents like to chaperone field trips and attend parties.  If this form is not completed, you will be unable to participate.  This is a district policy, not mine.   I would appreciate it if you would send me a quick email after you complete the registration.
