 Class News:

Daily Folders

Please remember to have your child bring his/her blue folder to school every day.

Please check your child’s “Daily Folder.

Homework/ Daily Folder

Every student should be reading an AR book(s) of his/her choice weekly so he/she can meet his/her goal for the second nine weeks. AR points are earned by taking tests at school on books he/she has read on his/her level or above and earning at least 80%. Students can take AR tests on books from our classroom library, school library, public library, or books from home as long as they are AR and on or above his/her reading level. Please remember to sign your child’s AR weekly reading log located in the back of the blue daily folder.

Peek at This Week and Next Week

Reading- Our class will complete U3W2. We will continue focusing on what we can see when we look in the sky. We will continue discussing the Earth, the sun, the moon, and the stars. The skills for u3w2 are rereading, plot:sequence, compound words and present-tense verbs. This week’s words contain the long /i/ spelling. The u3w2 comprehension, spelling, and vocabulary assessments are scheduled for Monday, February 10th and the writing is scheduled for Tuesday, February 11th. We will start U3W3 on Wednesday, February 12th.

Math- We will continue chapter 7 on money and time. In this chapter, we are learning about the values of coins and how to find the total value of a group of money. We will also be learning how to tell time on analog clocks.

Please remember to practice a quick recall of basic counting and addition and subtraction facts using numbers 1-20. It is extremely important your child knows how to recall basic facts up to the number 20. I would recommend spending 10 minutes each day doing math flashcards.

Science/Social Studies- Begin learning about weather.

Upcoming Events
