Star Swain

Star Swain is a graduate of Florida A&M University (B.S., African American Studies) and Florida State University (M.S., Educational Leadership & Administration) and has over 20 years of experience in PreK-12 education, with a strong teaching and instructional leadership background in reading and language arts. She began her teaching career as a preschool teacher and gained teaching experience in private, public, and charter elementary and secondary schools. Mrs. Swain started in school leadership at Jefferson County Middle High School as a literacy coach and, subsequently, an assistant principal. After working as an assistant principal at the former Governors Charter Academy in Tallahassee, she moved into her first principalship at Florida A&M University Developmental Research School (FAMU DRS), where she was the elementary school principal for six years. After a rewarding tenure at FAMU DRS, Mrs. Swain decided to broaden her educational leadership experiences by transitioning from a state lab school to a public school district in Leon County in January 2025.
