I consider Tallahassee my "hometown" since I have now lived here longer than anywhere else.  As a child, I loved to read and played "school" regularly.  I lived in Ohio during my elementary school years and in Miami for my secondary school years.  After coming to FSU in 1980, I never left!

I joined the Buck Lake family in Fall 2013 and am thrilled to be a part of such a school of excellence.  My philosophy of education is that every student, regardless of ability and circumstance, has a right to education and the primary goal of that education is to provide students the necessary tools to become a responsible contributing member of society.  My personal goal is to empower students to reach their full potential by reaching their goals as they utilize their strengths to succeed. 

I am a graduate of Florida State University with both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education.  I am certified in Exceptional Education, Elementary Education, Driver's Education and will receive a Reading endorsement in April 2016.  My teaching experience has been in both self-contained and resource settings, as well as the regular classroom.  

My husband of 27 years has been an educator for 35 years in Leon County and we have four children ages 22, 20, 17 and 14.  It is my belief that being both a parent and teacher brings a practical blend of experience and understanding to my relationship with parents and students.  

In the summers I spend my extra time traveling with my family and on mission trips with my church youth group.  That's also when I have a chance to pursue some of my other interests such as running, scrapbooking and enjoying coffee with girlfriends.
