    Dear Deerlake families,

Warm greetings from Coach Miller and Coach Thomas! We’re excited to welcome students to the Deerlake Running Club for a fun, supportive season that builds healthy habits, confidence, and teamwork.

    Objective

Help students develop lifelong fitness through running and walk-jog intervals while fostering teamwork, perseverance, and a positive growth mindset in a safe, welcoming environment.

    Practice Days & Times

    • Every Monday and Tuesday, 4:00–5:00 p.m.
    • First practice: Monday, September 15, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. in Room 501
    • We’ll run on campus and, at times, on safe routes in the surrounding neighborhood under coach supervision.

    Pace & Distance

Students are encouraged to run with friends at a comfortable pace—running or walk/jog is great!
Typical distance options range from 1 mile (minimum) up to 3 miles, based on experience and comfort.

    Action Steps for Families

    4. Timely Pick-Up (Three-Strike Policy)
Parent/guardian pick-up is by 5:00 p.m. at the designated area.
We understand things happen; however, consistent late pick-ups impact staff supervision.
      • After three late pick-ups, participation may be reconsidered.

    Club Status & Attendance Flexibility

    • Running Club is a school-sponsored club, not an official sport.
    • Attendance is not mandatory—students may attend one or both days per week based on availability and other commitments.
    • Participation can begin after another sport’s season concludes—joining late is perfectly fine.

    What to Bring

    • Athletic shoes suitable for running
    • Water bottle labeled with student’s name
    • Weather-appropriate attire (we’ll adjust for heat/light rain as needed)

    Safety & Expectations

    • Students run with coach supervision and follow all safety instructions.
