• Parents and Students:

Welcome to Communication Technology and AP Art History class information. My goal is to teach students how to see creatively, use digital photography and graphic software to express their voice through illustration and to demonstrate sound design principles in real world assignments. Students will also get the opportunity to certify in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop CC through Certiport through our Career Tech Academy. Adobe Creative Suite applications will be taught throughout the three years of Communication Technology. Classes progress from beginning to advanced skills with the Certiport test as one of the culminating events in the upper level classes.

Chiles High School offers the college level survey class AP Art History class to students to study the history of the creative process. In this course, students examine and critically analyze major forms of artistic expression from the past and the present from a variety of cultures. While visual analysis is a fundamental tool of the art historian, art history emphasizes understanding how and why works of art function in context, considering such issues as patronage, gender, and the functions and effects of works of art. Many colleges and universities offer advanced placement and/or credit to students who perform successfully on the AP Art History Exam.
My Lab Hours: 2:00 - 3:30 for additional time needed for projects and absences.
I am excited to teach all of these courses and look forward to a wonderful year. Please feel free to contact me by email at childersj@leonschools.net.
