Mission and Vision Statement
The Second Chance mission is to provide a learning environment that allows elementary, middle, and high school students to experience behavior success. Our goal is to provide an educational foundation that promotes integrity, self-worth, and lifelong learning that fosters healthy, productive, responsible members of society.
On May 11, 2021, Governor DeSantis signed House Bill 7045 into law, resulting in several changes to the state funded scholarship programs, including an extensive expansion of the Family Empowerment Scholarship Program. House Bill 7045 expanded the Family Empowerment Scholarship Program to include two branches of eligibility, the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options and the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Disabilities. Per the newly signed Florida Law HB 1B, beginning today (December 2, 2021), face masks or any other facial coverings will be optional for students and adults on Leon County School's campuses; however, parents may allow their child to wear a face mask or any other facial covering at their sole discretion.
Title 1 Family Engagement Survey - Fall 2021
The Leon County Schools’ Title I Office is administering the Parent and Family Engagement Survey for
Fall 2021. The survey allows your school and our district’s Title I Office to understand the aspects of the
parent/family and school relationship. Parents/guardians of students at your school should be given the
opportunity to complete the Family Engagement Survey. The information gathered will be used to guide
continual improvement within our Title I schools to better serve our students and their families.
The survey administration period is Friday, November 12, 2021 through Friday, December 17, 2021.
The Parent and Family Engagement Survey is available online and by paper in English, Spanish, Haitian
Creole, Swahili, and Arabic. Parents/guardians are able to select their language preference by clicking on
the appropriate link or QR code.
Paper surveys (see print-ready attachments) may be used for parents/guardians who are unable to access a
computer or device with internet connection. The two-page survey should be printed front and back on a
single sheet. Please make sure that all four corner markers and barcode are clearly visible when
printing the paper surveys. Some printers may cut the bottom part of the document and make the
survey unreadable. If completed on paper, the surveys can be collected and returned to the school’s
Parent Liaison. The district’s Title I Office will coordinate with each school regarding the receipt of the
