Strings

  • The Strings program at ATMSA focuses on teaching the orchestral string instruments (Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass) to our young scholars. We are one of only 2 public schools in the state that offer violin instruction beginning in the 1st grade. The program is organized into various levels and prepares students for Orchestra classes at their Middle and High school.

Students participate in various concert events throughout the school year and are provided with a quality instrument to use as their own.

Our beginning program uses the Suzuki Violin method, which is a worldwide, celebrated methodology designed specifically for young beginners.

Some of our string groups have traveled to perform at Disney as well as the Hilton Doubletree Hotel for the Florida Alliance for Arts Education Conference and our advanced ensemble will be performing on the stage with Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra in May of 2016.

Students with at least one year of experience will participate in the North Florida Strings Festival in March. This is a performance assessment opportunity at The FSU School of music in which all of our students received the highest rating issued by the Festival in 2015.
