Welcome Back to 2018-2019

  • ATMSA

Principal Ricardo and the entire faculty and staff at ATMSA is excited for the 2018-2019 school year!   As we continue through the school year, a couple of quick reminders were sent home via listserv.  You can sign up for listserv by clicking on THIS LINK.

    • Students may not be dropped off before 7:45AM unless they have enrolled in the before school program.  Breakfast is served between 7:45AM and 8:20AM.   Students will remain in the cafeteria from 7:45 – 8:00AM, at which point they will be dismissed to classrooms from the cafeteria after they have finished breakfast.
    • Parents dropping off students must use the parent drop off zone, located along the sidewalk in front of the school.  Students are not permitted to be dropped off in the parking lots, parking lanes, or allowed to cross traffic unsupervised.  It creates a serious risk to student safety.   Students are also not permitted to be dropped off or picked up in the bus loop.
    • Students must be dressed in school board approved school uniforms, consisting of blue (light, royal, navy) or gold polo (no white) and khaki/navy bottoms.  Closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times.  Jeans (solid blue/black, no holes, rips, tears) may be worn on Fridays only.
    • Students must be picked up by 3:15PM unless they have been enrolled in the after-school program (EDEP) or STARS (21st Century Program).   Students not picked up by 3:15PM may be ‘dropped-in’ the EDEP program with a $20/daily drop-in fee.
    • All transportation changes must be received in writing through email (atmsa@leonschools.net) or in your child’s agenda book.   If you do not receive a response to your email, please call the school to confirm it was received.  Transportations changes must be made before 2:15 PM and will not be taken over the phone.
    • Parents wishing to check students out before the end of the school day are asked to do so before 2:15 PM.
    • All parents wishing to volunteer on campus / attend a field trip, must complete a 2018-2019 LCS Volunteer Online Application today!

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) initiative is a key component of the No Child Left Behind Act. Authorized under Title IV, Part B, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, the specific purposes of the federal law are to:

Provide opportunities for academic enrichment, including providing tutorial services to help students, particularly students who attend low-performing schools, to meet state and local student academic achievement standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and mathematics.

Offer students a broad array of additional services, programs, and activities, such as youth development activities, drug and violence prevention programs, counseling programs, art, music, and recreation programs, technology education programs and character education programs, that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating students.

Offer families of students served by community learning centers opportunities for literacy and related educational development.

If you have any questions about the program or to enroll, please contact Maduyan Wells at 488-4329 or wellsm2@leonschools.net
