-(11/5)  Our Conley PTO is hosting a skate party.....

-(11/04) (11/7) Math test chapter 5 Thursday 11/13 Friday 11/14 (this is a change)....   Review pack on pages 179-184,  is due Wednesday 11/12 (yes, Wednesday).

-(11/3) This announcement is to let you know about a change in grading procedure.  Doing daily work is important, doing it on time and before the quizzes and tests for each chapter provides students with practice in the skill areas and immediate feedback that they are doing the skill correctly.  I will still accept late work should a student be absent, or some unforeseen event keeps them from completing the work on time, but any late work needs to be completed before the chapter test. Work turned in after the chapter tests have been completed will not be accepted starting this week.

-(10/31) Boosterthon is here!  Coach Vance told the students all about it today during special areas.  I sent an email out to you about it today.                 

-(10/23) We have a test on Monday 11/3 in math for chp 4 ...  Complete the review packet. Return it with a parent's signature BY this Friday, 10/31, and get 10 bonus points

-(8/18)  Need home work help?.....   Need tutoring assistance?   The Leroy Collins Leon County Public Library has resources available to K-8 students.

-(day 1) Mr. Threadgill sent a  1st day information letter that covers everything from walkers and arriving at school to lunch menus and dismissal routines.  There are two attachments discussed in the email. I have them linked in the items below

-(day 1) I communicate only through school email or school land-line phone.   Because Ms. McGrotha and I will be involved in teaching activities throughout the day. We often will not be able to answer phone calls. The best way to contact us is through email. I check my email 2 to 3 times a day and will do my best to contact you by the end of the day.  I’m sure there will be a lot of questions during the first weeks of school and I look forward to communicating with you.

           Numtanga is a game that helps students with number recognition in multiple formats.

           Kakooma is a multi level game that challenges growth in mastering multiplication and addition facts.

Science –     The Atom.....   What is the structure of the atom?  Today we will look at the 3 main parts of an atom: the names, locations and charges.

Tuesday:

Math –       We'll check our work from Monday on Lesson 5-5 about money and do our discussion the review section on pages 179-184, for our test Friday 

Science –     The Atom.....   What is the structure of the atom?  Today we will look how atoms gain and lose electrons and what that does to their charges.

Thursday:

Math –        Lesson 6-1  Multiply 2 decimal numbers (focusing on modeling).  Here's the lesson pages 187-188.      Here's a video from MrMathBlog.com.   

     Watch Mr Math Blog's video, complete the Digital lesson on ED-Learning and do pages 189-190. 

Friday:  

Math –       Chapter 5 test  F

Science –     The Atom.....   What is the structure of the atom?  Today we will look at the periodic table, the information found in the tiles, what atomic mass and weight are and and why Protons rule.

Science –     Lesson 7-3  Electricity and Circuits-  The lesson pages are 245-256.  Please read pages 248-251.  Today we'll read about and discuss the lesson vocabulary and look at what makes a circuit.

Science –    Chapter 7 introduction  Types of Energy    We'll look at "Flashlight Findings" on pg 225 and reply to the prompt given about the reasoning of the characters.  Then we'll do the 3 activities on page 226 at the bottom together and write a response to the question we see there.  Read pages 227- 232

Science –    Review the concepts...  States of Matter — Today we'll review with a video from Manocha Academy. Here are chart 1 and  chart 2 from the video.

Tuesday:Math –      Work through the digital lesson on ED-Learning today.  Lesson 3-5: Rounding decimal numbers.  Here are the lesson pages.  Here is the MrMathBlog video and a Khan Academy video for the lesson.  Please complete pages 109-110.  

Science –     The science of Carbon Dioxide.   Class demonstration of changes caused by temperature and the properties of Gases and Solids.

Wednesday:   Math –    Lesson 3-5 Rounding decimal numbers.  Here are the lesson pages.  Here is the MrMathBlog video and a Khan Academy video for the lesson. We'll check  pages 109-110 and do more problems from pages 111-112 in class.

Science –    Lesson 4 chapter 6....  Changing matter.   The reading pages for the lesson are 214-218. Today we'll dive into the reading, looking closely at the inquiry questions on pages 215, 217, & 218.

Thursday:  We have a test on chp 3 next Friday...  Complete this review packet (pgs 113-118). Return it with a parent's signature by next Thursday and get 10 bonus points

Science – Class investigation day....  What is it? Chemical change or Physical change?

Having difficulty logging in to your child's classlink account (or FOCUS) at home..?

The process is simple:

1. Go to the school or LCS website,
2. Click on the Classlink link.
3. When prompted for username or email, use their student email, which is their student ID (found on your Portal account) which in most cases starts with 171.... or 1800..... and is 9 digits in length, followed by @edu.leonschools.net        For example:    180001234@edu.leonschools.net
4. When prompted for their password, it is the same 5 (or for a few 6) digit PIN they use at school.  

That should get you in to their ClassLink account... If you have more than one child who is a student using a computer at home, I suggest NOT saving the login information in your browser as it will make it next to impossible for the 2nd or 3rd children to log in to their own accounts.

Email me if you have need for their ID number and PIN....
