-(9/28)  Parents.....  My sincerest apologies.  Until I can physically scan our "new and improved" science student textbook, I cannot post links to the pages on my website.  Our new provider decided a glitzy CGI-heavy student e-book was better than an easily accessible pdf format.  I'm looking at sacrificing a text to individually scan and format the pages into easy-to-use pdfs, but it takes some planning and time..........  

-(8/18)  Need home work help?.....   Need tutoring assistance?   The Leroy Collins Leon County Public Library has resources available to K-8 students.

-(day 1) Mr. Threadgill sent a  1st day information letter that covers everything from walkers and arriving at school to lunch menus and dismissal routines.  There are two attachments discussed in the email. I have them linked in the items below

-(day 1) I communicate only through school email or school land-line phone.   Because Ms. McGrotha and I will be involved in teaching activities throughout the day. We often will not be able to answer phone calls. The best way to contact us is through email. I check my email 2 to 3 times a day and will do my best to contact you by the end of the day.  I’m sure there will be a lot of questions during the first weeks of school and I look forward to communicating with you.

(day 1)-  Two great math fact games that I highly recommend on TangMath.com  -   Numtanga   &   Kakooma

           Numtanga is a game that helps students with number recognition in multiple formats.

           Kakooma is a multi level game that challenges growth in mastering multiplication and addition facts.

Math –       Lesson 3-4 "Comparing and ordering decimals"   Lesson pages are on pages 101-102.  The Work for today will be found on pages 105-106.  Here's a  Khan Academy video for the lesson (there are additional videos in the sidebar near the video window). 

Science –    Review the concepts...  States of Matter — Today we'll review with a video from Manocha Academy. Here are chart 1 and  chart 2 from the video.

Tuesday:

Math –      Work through the digital lesson on ED-Learning today.  Lesson 3-5: Rounding decimal numbers.  Here are the lesson pages.  Here is the MrMathBlog video and a Khan Academy video for the lesson.  Please complete pages 109-110.  

Science –     The science of Carbon Dioxide.   Class demonstration of changes caused by temperature and the properties of Gases and Solids.

Wednesday:   

Math –    Lesson 3-5 Rounding decimal numbers.  Here are the lesson pages.  Here is the MrMathBlog video and a Khan Academy video for the lesson. We'll check  pages 109-110 and do more problems from pages 111-112 in class. 

Science –   .Review the concepts....  Physical and Chemical Changes -  Today we'll review with a video from Manocha Academy.

Math –        Review for chapter 3

Wednesday:   

Math –   Lesson 4-2  Adding and Subtracting Through 1/1000s. Here is a  lesson video  . Today we'll focus on SUBTRACTING.  Here is the lesson pages.   Please complete #s 23, 25, 27, 29, 32, 33, 35 & 36  pages  133-134. 

Science –    Chapter 7 introduction  Types of Energy    We'll look at "Flashlight Findings" on pg 225 and reply to the prompt given about the reasoning of the characters.  Then we'll do the 3 activities on page 226 at the bottom together and write a response to the question we see there.  Read pages 227- 232

Thursday:

Science –      Chapter 7 introduction  Types of Energy   We'll discuss the reading and vocabulary from  pages 227- 232  .

Math –   Today we'll check pages 137-138. and review chapter 4 pages 141-146.. in class. 

Science –   Chapter 7 introduction  Types of Energy   We'll finish our textbook lesson by doing pages 233-234 and checking it in class

Daily Schedule  

Did Junior forget an assignment... was he or she absent... here they are.  Any late assignments that are turned in will be put in the gradebook, but will lose 10% unless there is an excused absence attached to the day the assignment was given or due.

Science –    Lesson 4 chapter 6....  Changing matter.   The reading pages for the lesson are 214-218. Today we'll dive into the reading, looking closely at the inquiry questions on pages 215, 217, & 218.

Thursday:  We have a test on chp 3 next Friday...  Complete this review packet (pgs 113-118). Return it with a parent's signature by next Thursday and get 10 bonus points

Science – Class investigation day....  What is it? Chemical change or Physical change?

Having difficulty logging in to your child's classlink account (or FOCUS) at home..?

The process is simple:

1. Go to the school or LCS website,
2. Click on the Classlink link.
3. When prompted for username or email, use their student email, which is their student ID (found on your Portal account) which in most cases starts with 171.... or 1800..... and is 9 digits in length, followed by @edu.leonschools.net        For example:    180001234@edu.leonschools.net
4. When prompted for their password, it is the same 5 (or for a few 6) digit PIN they use at school.  

That should get you in to their ClassLink account... If you have more than one child who is a student using a computer at home, I suggest NOT saving the login information in your browser as it will make it next to impossible for the 2nd or 3rd children to log in to their own accounts.

Email me if you have need for their ID number and PIN....
