Welcome to Criminal Justice I. This course will examine and explain the American criminal justice system, including laws, procedures, rights of the accused, roles of judges, prosecutors and defense counsel. We will trace criminal laws from thier earliest known existence to help understand the events that influenced and shaped our current system. The course is intended to be informative, challenging, fun and engaging. We will have several mock trials so that students can get a glimpse of the process that is the cornerstone of our jury-peer system.
