CELL PHONE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES POLICY
Upon arrival on SCMS campus, student cell phones must be turned off and out of sight until 9:25AM. Beginning at 9:25AM until the last bell rings at 3:50PM, all student cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off and stored in lockers unless permitted for use by the administration or teacher for instructional purposes.
Students who violate this policy shall be subject to established disciplinary measures. School employees shall confiscate any cell phone or electronic device visible, heard or used during the instructional day without teacher/staff permission. All confiscated phones or electronic devices will be turned in to the front office, labeled with the student's name. A phone call will be made to the parent to retrieve the cell phone from the front office.
ACTIVITY PARTICIPATION (“AP”) FORMS
All students who plan on participating in any activity or field trip with SCMS must fill out the front side of an AP form each year they are enrolled.
Additionally, any students who plan to tryout for a sport must complete BOTH sides of the AP form AND have a current physical that will not expire before the last game of the season.
This form is accessible here for your convenience:
2019 Summer Reading
It is the expectation of SCMS ELA teachers that all incoming and rising students read a novel over summer break. Students have the option of choosing either a fiction, nonfiction, or graphic novel from the list below for the grade level they will be entering in the 2019-20 school year. Students will be assessed by their teachers no later than the fourth week of school. Assessments will be determined by individual teachers.
