This is, by far, the most challenging year our teachers have faced with the addition of Canvas, block scheduling and the hybrid instructional model. Our teachers, of course, have met the challenges put before them because they are professional educators and they love and care deeply for each student they are privileged to serve. Our SCMS PTSO asked each of our teachers to create a “favorites” list so parents/students/community members, if they wished, could shower them with a little bit of love and kindness throughout the school year. I also want to add that a heartfelt, encouraging note is ALWAYS the most appreciated “gift” to a teacher. Please click the link below for a peek into what brings a smile to our teachers’ faces.
In addition, SCMS has a LEADER OF THE PACK recognition for any adult on our campus who has demonstrated: respect, responsibility, helpfulness, positive attitude, etc. This nomination form has also been provided for you. You can send this form back to me, Sue Rishell, at email@example.com and the form will be part of a weekly drawing. Thank you for your consideration in supporting and encouraging the most exceptional professional educators I have ever had the privilege to learn beside!
Help the PTSO make SCMS students, teachers, and our school SMILE!

Comcast/Xfinity is giving away two free months of internet service for low-income families who qualify, regularly priced at $9.95/month plus tax after that until they cancel. There is no contract so they can disconnect at any time without penalty. It's only for new customers, but existing customers have some additional perks and protections they're offering too.
CELL PHONE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES POLICY
Upon arrival on SCMS campus, student cell phones must be turned off and out of sight until 9:25AM. Beginning at 9:25AM until the last bell rings at 3:50PM, all student cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off and stored in lockers unless permitted for use by the administration or teacher for instructional purposes.
Students who violate this policy shall be subject to established disciplinary measures. School employees shall confiscate any cell phone or electronic device visible, heard or used during the instructional day without teacher/staff permission. All confiscated phones or electronic devices will be turned in to the front office, labeled with the student's name. A phone call will be made to the parent to retrieve the cell phone from the front office.

SCMS has a long-standing history of educating EVERY student on campus about the signs, dangers and consequences of bullying each year through SRD led classroom instruction. This instruction first took place in the beginning of the 2015-16 school year.
Please contact Kelly Lynch, Dean of Students if you have any questions or concerns.
