Why should I take the ASVAB?
Posted by:If you are thinking about joining the military...
1. Your scores in four critical areas -- Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, and Mathematics Knowledge -- count towards your Armed Forces Qualifying Test (AFQT) score. The AFQT score determines whether you're qualified to enlist in the U.S. military.
2. Your scores in the other areas of the ASVAB will determine how qualified you are for certain military occupational specialties and Enlistment Bonuses. A high score will improve your chances of getting the specialty/job and signing bonus you want.
If you are not interested in the military...
1. It provides an interest inventory that will match your academic abilities for a career. If you have a chosen major for college, this inventory should help verify if your interest matches that major.
2. If you still do not have a clue as to what you want to do upon graduation, this inventory will help you identify areas that reflect where your interests lie. -
