Leon County School’s Safe Schools Statement
Pursuant to federal law, students may not be denied a public education. As such, Leon County Schools is committed to providing a world class education in a safe environment for all students--regardless of immigration status.
LCS administrators will continue to enforce Board Policy 5540 in relation to non-DCF law enforcement investigations involving students on campus. This policy requires parents’ consent in order to provide access to students unless there is a warrant or an exigent/emergency circumstance such as an investigation involving a missing child.
LCS counselors have been trained to provide support for students and families who may be impacted by changes to federal law. The safety and security of all our students will continue to be our top priority.
The office remains closed to the public, but the administration and staff are available via phone and email. To schedule an in-person meeting please call the Main Office at 850-617-4700.
When we have information to share, then we will send it via our Listserv, Twitter, Remind, and Instagram.
Keep Your FOCUS Information Current
It is important for parents/guardians to keep the information on their student up-to-date in FOCUS. Please see the instructions below on how to update your information.
If you need to update a physical address due to a move, LCS Policy 5120 requires proof of residency. Please email these documents to our registrar Mrs. Hightower-Harvey (firstname.lastname@example.org). Required documents are the current lease, mortgage, deed, or property tax record AND a current utility bill. If your move was recent, a letter from the utility company acknowledging the connection of the utilities at the physical address will be appropriate.
